Exporting Design to PVsyst (PVCollada)

Overview

PVX.AI exports 3D table positions as a PV Collada file for PVsyst. Two formats are available: the classic PVCollada 1.x export and the newer PVC 2.0 export, which carries considerably more of the design.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open the Export dropdown

On the PVX.AI ribbon, open the Export dropdown on the Export panel.

2. Choose the format

Design (PVC) writes the classic PVCollada 1.x file (.dae). Design (PVC 2.0) writes the newer side-by-side file (.pvc2) with higher fidelity. Both formats stay available, so pick the one your workflow expects.

3. Know what PVC 2.0 includes

The 2.0 file emits the full electrical hierarchy (transformers, combiners, inverters, cabling), placed 3D device bodies, the project boundary, the terrain mesh and shading objects, and East-West racks as dual fixed-tilt faces. The module and inverter electrical specs are exported in full, including module bifaciality factor, temperature coefficients, and cell topology, plus inverter efficiency, so the PVsyst model is populated correctly. Equipment is draped onto the terrain so the file imports cleanly.

4. Save the file

Name the file and save it. The PVC 2.0 file is always written in meters, regardless of the drawing’s units.

Tips & Recommendations

  • PVsyst recognizes tracker tables as tracking objects automatically, and distinguishes them from fixed tables.
  • Export the terrain alongside the design: Export then Terrain (CSV) gives PVsyst the matching 3D surface.
  • Note which format you exported. The alignment steps on the PVsyst side differ between the classic 1.x file and the 2.0 file.
