Importing a PVcase Design

Overview

PVX.AI can import an existing PVcase design and convert it into native PVX.AI objects, so the project keeps designing like one built in PVX.AI. This guide covers running the import and checking what was converted.

Prerequisites

Open the PVcase-exported DWG, or bring its content into your current drawing, before you start. There is no file picker: PVX.AI scans the current drawing for PVcase data and converts it in place.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Run the import

On the Layout panel, open the Import dropdown and click Import PVcase Design.

2. Review the summary

Progress and a summary of what was found and imported are printed to the AutoCAD command line. PVX.AI imports PV area boundaries, the terrain surface, fixed, tracker and East-West rack frames (creating the matching rack specs), strings, DC combiner boxes, string and central inverters, transformers, cables, and exclusion zones, and georeferences the project when it can.

3. Check the converted detail

Terrain-following trackers are reassembled as native PVX.AI TFT racks, with segment chains, joints and per-segment geometry included. PVcase trees become PVX.AI shading objects. Trackers import at their true length, with half-gap parts and pile overhang accounted for, fixed racks tilt with the slope, and the drawing keeps the PVcase project’s unit system.

Tips & Recommendations

  • The import is non-destructive. Your original PVcase entities are left untouched.
  • Source layers are hidden and frozen after import. Thaw them if you want to compare the original against the converted PVX.AI objects.
