Overview
PVX.AI can run a shading analysis directly in the drawing, for a chosen date and time, in addition to the shadow heatmap in the web viewer. This guide covers setting the sun position, drawing the shadows and exporting the ranked list of shaded frames.
Prerequisites
Site coordinates are required, either from a georeferenced import or from the manual latitude and longitude fields in the window.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Open the window
On the Layout panel, click Shading Analysis.
2. Set the date and time
Set the Date and Time (HH:mm). A live sun-position readout showing elevation and azimuth updates as you change them. If the drawing has no coordinates, enter the site Latitude and Longitude in the manual-location fields shown.
3. Choose the shadow casters
Leave All objects checked to include every rack and 3D scene object, or uncheck it and use Select objects to analyze a subset.
4. Show the shading
Click Show Shading. PVX.AI draws the shadows cast by racks and 3D scene objects onto the drawing and lists the affected rows under Shaded frames, giving the rack number and shading percentage, worst first.
5. Export the list
Click Export CSV to save the ranked list of shaded frames.
Tips & Recommendations
- The overlay is kept in sync as you move or delete racks, and it reappears when you reopen the window.
- Add trees, buildings and other 3D scene objects before you run the analysis so they cast shadows too.
