Overview
All layout and design commands in PVX.AI operate on defined PV areas. A PV area defines the zones where solar panels will be placed. This guide covers the methods for creating PV areas.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Access the PV Area tools
Navigate to the PV Area button on the PVX.AI ribbon.
2. Draw a PV area freehand
Use Draw PV Area to draw a polygon on screen. Click points to define the shape and press Escape to close it.
3. Convert an existing boundary
If you already have a parcel boundary, you can convert it directly to a PV area. Alternatively, offset the parcel boundary inward by a set distance (e.g., 5-6 meters) and convert the offset shape to a PV area.
4. Check numbering
Each PV area in PVX.AI is automatically numbered. These numbers are used as references in the layout plan.
Tips & Recommendations
- Define PV areas at least 5-10 meters inside the parcel boundary to leave adequate working space.
- You can define multiple PV areas within a single project.
- Layout commands will not run without a defined PV area; always create one before starting the design.
