Overview
In PVX.AI, you can place racks at fixed intervals to quickly create a layout plan. This method uses equal pitch distance between all racks and is ideal for simple, uniform layouts.
Prerequisites
At least one rack type and one PV area must be defined.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Open the Build Layout tool
Click Build Layout. Select your rack types. PVX.AI supports multiple rack types in a single area; hold CTRL to select a second type.
2. Set the alignment direction
Choose the rack alignment direction: left-to-right, right-to-left, or center alignment. If roads are defined, racks will automatically align to them.
3. Select the PV area
Under Select Boundaries, choose your PV area and press Enter. To use a 3D surface, enable Use 3D Terrain Mesh.
4. Enter slope limits
Set maximum surface slope limits for north-south and east-west directions as percentages (e.g., 18%). Areas exceeding this limit are left empty automatically.
5. Set rack spacing and generate the layout
Enter the pitch distance (e.g., 5 m) and horizontal rack spacing (e.g., 0.25 m). PVX.AI will fill the entire area in a linear pattern. Smaller rack types are used automatically in areas where larger racks do not fit.
Tips & Recommendations
- Using multiple rack types helps minimize empty zones in smaller areas.
- Gaps in areas above the slope limit (e.g., 18%) are normal; these zones are structurally unsuitable.
- Optimize shadow distance based on your site’s latitude.
- Check the layout result in 3D view to verify terrain compatibility.
