Overview
After stringing, you set the working scope, define the electrical hierarchy as a saved plan, and let PVX.AI place the devices. This covers steps 2 to 4 of the Electrical Design window.
Prerequisites
String definitions must be complete. Open the Electrical sub-tab with the Electrical Design group button on the PVX.AI ribbon, then click Electrical Design.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Set the scope
Choose PV Area and select a boundary to work on every string inside it, or Strings to select individual strings. Live stats show the string count and power, and how many strings are still unused. The later steps stay hidden until a scope is set.
2. Open the Configuration Panel
Click Open Configuration Panel to open the Electrical Configuration window, then pick the Hierarchy: String to Inverter to Transformer, or String to DC Combiner to Inverter to Transformer.
3. Set the equipment and targets
Pick a Default Inverter from the catalog, or import an .OND file with the + button. Set the DC/AC Target (default 1.30), which drives the inverter count, plus Max inverters per transformer and, for the DC combiner hierarchy, Max strings per DC box. Adjust the naming prefixes if needed (defaults TR and INV) and click Apply naming.
4. Save the plan
A transformer with no inverters blocks the save, and other issues ask whether you still want to save. You can delete DC boxes directly in the grid. Click OK (Save) when the plan is valid.
5. Place the devices
Set the Placement mode. Auto (cloud) places the devices for you, snapping transformers to road edges, and cabling then runs automatically afterwards. Manual means you place the devices and handle trenches and cabling yourself. Click Place Devices. PVX.AI places the transformers, inverters, and DC combiner boxes, color-codes each DC box group, and labels the hierarchy from your naming prefixes.
Tips & Recommendations
- Every PV area owns its own electrical plan, so a multi-area site can be configured and placed area by area, in any order.
- The Design Summary header shows a PVsyst sizing badge with any string-sizing errors or warnings. Click Design temps… to set the temperatures used for that check.
- Each color code represents a different DC box group. Use the colors to verify connections.
