Overview
The Electrical Design window runs a numbered five-step flow. This guide covers step 2, Scope, and step 4, Place Devices.
Prerequisites
Racks strung in step 1. The Configure, Place and Cabling sections stay hidden until you set a scope.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Set the scope
Scope tells PVX.AI which part of the site you are wiring. Choose PV Area and select a boundary to work on every string inside it, or Strings to select individual strings.
The step shows the string count and power for your selection, plus how many strings are assigned versus unused, so you can confirm the scope before configuring the topology.
2. Choose the placement mode
After saving a configuration plan in step 3, set the Placement mode. Auto (cloud) places the devices for you, snapping transformers to road edges, and cabling then runs automatically afterwards. Manual means you place devices and assign trenches and cabling yourself.
3. Place the devices
Click Place Devices. PVX.AI places transformers, inverters and DC combiner boxes, color-codes each DC Box group, and labels the hierarchy from your naming prefixes. Cluster stations are sited off the real road edge, not the centerline. Auto placement seats what fits and prompts only for devices it could not place.
Tips & Recommendations
- Every PV area owns its own electrical plan, so a multi-area site can be designed one area at a time.
- After moving a transformer, run PVXAI_REFRESHTRAFOFOOTPRINTS to re-run the rack hide and restore cleanup across all transformers.
