BESS Code Compliance Report

Overview

The BESS code compliance report checks the placed layout against the fire code preset in your settings and cites the rule behind every finding. This guide covers running and reading it.

Prerequisites

Units must be placed and exposures tagged. The rule-set preset and any AHJ overrides come from BESS Enclosure Catalog and Design Settings.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open the report

Choose Compliance Report from the BESS dropdown. The window runs on load, so results appear immediately.

2. Read the banner and findings

The banner summarizes pass, warn or fail. Findings are grouped by severity, and each one carries a message and its provenance, meaning the exact code citation in effect.

3. Check the rules in effect

Expand Rules in effect to see every rule value and its source, including any AHJ overrides you entered. This is how you confirm which setback or separation was applied.

4. Fix and re-run

Adjust the layout or accept the finding, then click Re-run to refresh the report.

Tips & Recommendations

  • Reserve pads are included in compliance checks even though they are excluded from the energy totals.
  • The minimum pad elevation flood check reports with the provenance “project setting” rather than a code citation. Pads outside the terrain coverage are skipped with a note.
  • Set the validation gate to block in BESS Settings if you want compliance errors to stop an auto-place commit.
  • The report advises, it does not certify. Verify every rule with your Authority Having Jurisdiction.
