Overview
PVX.AI can convert 2D designs made in other programs into 3D rack layouts on your terrain model. Designs imported as blocks or polylines can be transformed into PVX.AI racks positioned on the 3D surface.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Prepare the existing design
Ensure your 2D design is open in AutoCAD with elements in block or polyline format.
2. Open the Convert to 3D tool
Under Build Layout, select Convert to 3D.
3. Select rack type and PV area
Choose the rack type matching your design. Define a PV area if one does not exist (you can quickly create one).
4. Enable 3D surface and set slope limits
Activate 3D surface usage. Enter slope limits; areas above this limit will not be converted. Enter 100% to convert across all terrain.
5. Apply the conversion
Click Convert, click on the drawing area, then click on a rack. PVX.AI will automatically convert all racks to 3D positions on the terrain.
Tips & Recommendations
- Areas above the slope limit are not converted; these zones may require additional grading.
- After conversion, check for conflicting racks (use the Spot Conflicting Racks feature).
- This feature is ideal for importing preliminary designs from other engineering teams into PVX.AI.
