Overview
The Design Wizard, previously called Auto Design, generates a complete concept design automatically: table placement, service roads, cable routing, and equipment locations. It is ideal for quickly producing preliminary layouts during the feasibility stage, and it handles several rack specs in one pass.
Prerequisites
A defined PV Area, and rack specs whose modules carry complete electrical data.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Launch the Design Wizard
On the Layout panel of the PVX.AI ribbon, click Design Wizard. Click Select Rack and choose one or more rack types. Ensure the modules have complete electrical data, because voltage drop and cable sizing depend on it.
2. Review the Rack Stringing grid
The Rack Stringing section shows one row per selected rack with Rack, Strings, and Pattern columns. PVX.AI derives an optimal string count and stringing pattern for each rack; adjust them if needed. Trackers lock to one string with no U-String.
3. Select the PV area
Click Select Boundary and choose the PV Area or areas. They are listed below the button, and Remove Boundary clears the selection.
4. Configure transformer, inverter, and spacing parameters
In the Configuration section, set Transformer Power (kVA), Inverter Power (kW), Inverter Input Count, the Horizontal Distance and Vertical Distance panel spacing, and Road Width.
5. Set the DC Combiner and 3D options
Turn the DC Combiner toggle on to include combiner boxes, then set DC Combiner Inputs and DCB Power (kW). Switch the 2D / 3D Terrain toggle on to project the design onto the 3D surface.
6. Generate the design
Click Build. PVX.AI generates a complete preliminary layout with tables, service roads, cable routes, and equipment positions.
Tips & Recommendations
- The Design Wizard saves significant time during feasibility and concept design.
- Check the electrical data on your modules first. Incorrect data leads to wrong cable calculations.
- Select several rack types in one run to compare mixed-rack concepts.
