BESS Enclosure Catalog and Design Settings

Overview

Before placing batteries, pick an enclosure from the catalog and review the settings that govern spacing, fire code and grading.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open the enclosure catalog

Click BESS Enclosures on the Database panel. The list shows manufacturer, model, block type, energy, power and size. Type in the search box to filter, then click a row to select an enclosure.

2. Add a custom enclosure

Click New Enclosure and fill in the identity, dimensions, energy and power, degradation, maintenance clearances, fire and noise, and power conversion sections. Only custom enclosures can be edited or deleted.

3. Open BESS Settings

Choose BESS Settings from the BESS dropdown. Under Fire code, pick the rule-set preset for your jurisdiction and set the validation gate to warn only, or to block an auto-place commit while errors remain.

4. Set placement and augmentation defaults

Set Default spacing, Naming prefix, Row azimuth, Default coupling, Capacity target and Target energy, then the augmentation horizon and cycles per year. Target energy sizes the energized fleet only; reserve pads are a separate opt-in on the Designer’s Placement step.

5. Review overrides and pad grading, then save

Leave any AHJ override blank to use the preset value shown beneath the field. Set the pad grading clamps, side-slope ratio, bias and minimum pad elevation, then click Save.

Tips & Recommendations

  • Usable energy is what the totals sum, so take it from the datasheet.
  • Degradation and noise values are optional. When one is missing, the planner uses a conservative default and discloses it.
  • Settings travel with the drawing.
