Defining DC Boxes, Inverters, and Transformers

Overview

The second stage of electrical design in PVX.AI involves connecting strings to DC Boxes, DC Boxes to inverters, and inverters to transformers to create the electrical topology.

Prerequisites

String definitions must be complete.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Enter equipment parameters

Input DC Box string count, total DC Boxes per inverter, total inverters per transformer, and inverter power details.

2. Start equipment placement

Click Generate Electrical. First, select the transformer center location, then the inverter area.

3. Draw the alignment route

Draw an alignment route for DC Box positioning. This can follow the cable trench route. Position it parallel to roads or rack rows so DC Boxes are close to the racks.

4. Assign string groups

Select the specified number of strings for each DC Box (e.g., 24 strings). Right-click to close each group. PVX.AI will automatically place DC Boxes at optimal positions along the alignment line.

5. Complete all groups

Assign all strings to DC Boxes to complete all inverter groups. PVX.AI will automatically assign inverter and transformer positions.

Tips & Recommendations

  • Draw alignment routes parallel to service roads to facilitate maintenance access.
  • Position DC Boxes as close to racks as possible to minimize DC cable losses.
  • Each color code represents a different DC Box group; use these colors to verify connections.
