Overview
Step 5 of the electrical flow turns placed devices into routed cables and engineered trenches. How it runs depends on the placement mode.
Prerequisites
Devices placed in step 4. Manual mode also needs roads or trench polylines.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Auto (cloud) mode
Cabling runs automatically after placement. Use Regenerate Cabling to re-run it against current devices and strings. Moving a device prompts a re-cabling.
2. Manual mode
Run Trenches then Generate Trenches from Roads, or draw and convert your own polylines. Use Assign DC Trench and Assign AC Trench to pick a transformer and select its polylines, then Generate Selection or Generate All.
3. Set the trench engineering
Open the Trench settings card in the electrical panel. Choose the IEC installation method and cable separation from the route-planning dropdown, or let PVX.AI choose them. Derating reads the actual drawn clearance for buried runs, so sized cables match the trench that gets built. Routes are grouped into trench lanes, DC strings are packed into ducts, and oversized lane groups split into parallel trench banks.
4. Drape and detail
Use the 3D Drape toggle for true 3D lengths and a burial profile, then Trench Sections to draw cross-section details with polarity colors, hatches, duct labels and a depth ladder.
Tips & Recommendations
- Cables are sized to meet a voltage-drop target, and PVX.AI reports cross-sections, lengths and voltage drop per group.
- The cloud cabling engine can also design trunk-bus and Y-harness eBOS from vendor parts in the Harness Components catalog.
