Adapting Terrain to Piles

Overview

The Adapt Terrain to Piles feature in PVX.AI adjusts the ground surface beneath racks to meet pile height and panel-to-ground clearance requirements. Rack tilt angles remain unchanged; only the terrain contour is modified.

Prerequisites

Racks placed on a 3D surface and defined pile parameters are required.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Check current conditions with Setout

Use Frame Setout to view cross-sections of your racks. Check panel-to-ground clearances and pile lengths for any out-of-spec values.

2. Open the Adapt Terrain to Piles tool

The tool offers two options: panel-to-ground clearance limits or pile height limits.

3. Enter pile parameters

Set maximum height values for front and back piles (e.g., rear pile max 2 m). Rack tilt angles (e.g., 25 degrees) will remain unchanged.

4. Run the adaptation

Start the process. PVX.AI will modify the terrain contour beneath racks to keep pile lengths within your specified limits.

5. Review results

New terrain contours, fill maps, and contour lines are generated automatically. Use Create Contours to visualize the new isolines. Adaptation only affects areas directly beneath the racks.

Tips & Recommendations

  • This feature does not change rack tilt angles; only the terrain is adjusted.
  • Include the resulting earthwork volumes in your grading plan.
  • Use this feature on high-slope areas to optimize pile lengths.
