Overview
PVX.AI generates site roads as part of a grading run. Alignments are routed between your site entrances using the cloud’s grading, curvature and drainage-crossing cost model, then regraded back into the surface, so the terrain, the cut and fill volumes and the roads are one consistent result.
Prerequisites
Loaded terrain and a grading boundary. Roads are computed by the grading pass, so Grade the terrain first must be on. The run is charged for grading and for road design.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Enable road generation
Open Grading on the Earthworks panel, set your slope and cut/fill targets, then tick Generate roads (uses this grading’s targets). You are asked to pick the site entrance points.
2. Set the road parameters
- Road Width: the driveable width. Shoulders and side slopes are added on top, so the cleared corridor is wider.
- Advanced Highway Parameters: max grade, turn radius and related limits, derived by default from the grading targets and site azimuth. Edit any field, or reset it to the derived value.
- Mass haul: swell factor and free haul distance.
- Culvert sizing: design return period, rainfall intensity and runoff coefficient. Where a road crosses a drainage channel, the culvert is sized from the design rainfall.
3. Build
Run the grading. The graded surface and the roads arrive together.
Tips & Recommendations
- Leave the rainfall intensity empty to skip culvert sizing.
- Generated roads honor road-rack setbacks and get corner rounding at every junction.
- Devices placed later align to the road that serves them.
